Liberty Development Corporation is pleased to announce the latest master-planned condo community in its growing portfolio of fine residential developments. Launching this summer, Metro Place will be an inspiring new community of four condominiums centred around a one-acre pedestrian-friendly park.
Located at the crossroads of Allen Road and Sheppard Avenue West, Metro Place will be the cornerstone of a major re-development. “Metro Place will transform a familiar corner of North York into a vibrant new community with something for everyone,” reports Fred Darvish, President of Liberty Development.
“Most people know this location as “the Idomo site,” says Darvish. “Our vision is to transform this existing vacant land into a new residential gateway to North York.” Allen Road and Sheppard West area is currently experiencing a metamorphosis from office, light industrial and established low-rise homes into a lively neighbourhood in which to live, work and play. “New condos are becoming very popular along the Sheppard West corridor right over to Yonge Street. Metro Place will be unique however, in that it will offer new construction, coordinated architecture and many suite choices within a true community development, right across from the subway,” adds Darvish.

There are a number of factors that will make Metro Place’s location attractive to new homebuyers. The condo community is across the street from the new state-of-the-art Sheppard West/Downsview Station. “Access to the downtown core is a short and less-crowded subway ride away. Yorkdale Shopping Centre is just two stops away. The soon-to-be-constructed subway extension to North York West and York University will make this a convenient connection to both uptown and downtown,” comments Lori Nusbaum, Sales and Marketing Manager. “Unlike the crowded Yonge line, TTC riders going downtown will be able to get a seat and enjoy their trip in to work.”
Just across the street from Metro Place is Downsview Park, one of Canada’s largest urban parks and its many attractions and vast greenspaces. Metro Place residents will be able to enjoy the parks, trails, people, places, sports attractions, venues, art and recreation features that are presently being developed. “With miles upon miles of trails in Downsview Park, we know Metro Place residents will be walking, cycling, jogging and inline skating. We have even designed a storage area in each building to accommodate bikes,” adds Darvish.

Metro Place has been designed by Kirkor Architects with an Art Deco flair to pay homage to its location opposite Downsview Park and its origins as the 1930s home of the Canadian Armed Forces base. “We have designed chic Deco-inspired buildings with sleek roundness and a slight industrial edge. We drew our inspiration from the heritage airplane hangars that are preserved at Downsview Park,” says Cliff Korman, Principal of Kirkor. Expanses of glass and open spaces provide a contemporary urban streetscape along Sheppard Avenue and Allen Road with dynamic architecture, boutique shops, plantings and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks. The four buildings will face an internal, one-acre park designed with pleasing, people-oriented landscaping where Metro Place residents and neighbours can relax in a peaceful, open-air environment. A porte cochère for each residence will provide a distinctive and protective entrance canopy for residents and their guests.
Metro Place’s four towers will be between 14 and 17 storeys high with crisp glass balconies, cool pre-cast and plenty of suite options to choose from. Each building will offer its own lobby, party room and gym.
Metro Place has had plenty of interest from the neighbourhood – people wishing to downsize from their older homes, stay close to friends and family but move into stylish, carefree condo living. Metro Place has also attracted a number of people from outside the area who want a home on the subway line. “People will recognize the value of our community when compared to downtown sites. They can also be environmentally friendly – there’s no need for a car when the subway is at your doorstep!”
